Authorities Search for Hit-and-Run Suspect in Fatal Pacoima Pedestrian Accident

Authorities have released a video capturing the tragic incident of a male pedestrian being fatally struck by a dark-colored sedan in Pacoima. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, leaving the victim behind.

The incident occurred on Paxton Street near Glenoaks Boulevard around 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday. The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was hit by the eastbound car. Shockingly, the driver did not stop to provide assistance and fled toward the east on Paxton Street.

Emergency medical services arrived promptly and transported the pedestrian to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

To respect the privacy of the deceased, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office is withholding the victim’s identity until family members are notified. The LAPD emphasized that drivers involved in accidents should immediately pull over, contact emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

In a laudable effort to discourage hit-and-run incidents, the Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund was established in 2015 by the Los Angeles City Council and former Mayor Eric Garcetti. This program offers a reward of up to $50,000 to individuals who provide information leading to the identification, apprehension, conviction, or resolution of hit-and-run drivers through a civil compromise.
