Authorities Link Deaths of Four Women in Portland Area

Authorities have established a connection between the deaths of four women in Portland, Oregon, and the surrounding area over the past three months. According to a statement by the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, investigators have linked a person of interest to the deaths of Kristin Smith, Charity Lynn Perry, Bridget Leann Ramsay Webster, and Ashley Real. These women all died under suspicious circumstances and their bodies were discovered in isolated locations.

Although the person of interest has not been identified, no one has been charged with any criminal offenses related to these deaths. Additionally, officials have not disclosed the causes of their deaths.

The Oregonian and Willammette Week have named the person of interest as Jesse Lee Calhoun, a 38-year-old who was released from prison last year after being convicted of burglary and stolen vehicle charges. Online records indicate that Calhoun has been in custody since earlier this month.

Each woman’s case has its own timeline. Smith was reported missing on November 19, 2022, and her body was found on February 19, 2023, in Multnomah County. Perry’s remains were discovered on April 24 in Ainsworth State Park, while Ramsey’s body was found in Polk County six days after Perry’s discovery. Real was found deceased on May 7 in Clackamas County, after being last seen in March leaving a fast-food restaurant, according to Portland police.

Online speculation among locals about a potential connection between these deaths prompted initial denials from the Portland Police Bureau, stating in June that there was no reason to believe the cases were related. The authorities emphasized that the speculation was not supported by available evidence.

Authorities are now seeking public assistance in their ongoing investigation.
