The Problem: President Biden’s Response to the Deaths of US Soldiers in the 2021 Kabul Airport Attack.
The editorial titled “Biden’s Snub of Gold Star Families” (Aug. 9) published in The Post was astute and on-point.
The callous treatment of Gold Star families who lost their sons and daughters in Afghanistan by the Biden administration is unforgivable.
President Biden’s actions are inexcusable, and it is doubtful that he will be re-elected to the presidency.

The responsibility for the chaos during the US withdrawal from Afghanistan falls solely on the Biden administration.
Instead of heeding the advice of their military commanders to evacuate from Bagram Air Field, which was under US control, the White House relinquished a large part of the operation to the Taliban. This decision directly resulted in the loss of American soldiers and civilians.
The White House’s complete disregard for the families of the deceased and its constant attempts to shift blame for this failure are unacceptable.

Biden’s inhuman response to the Gold Star families, who suffered due to his botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, has unsurprisingly been overlooked by most media outlets.
He even checked his watch while the coffins, draped in the flag, were brought back, and he mischaracterized the death of his own son to a grieving parent.
In other words, he resorts to lying to appear empathetic. Biden’s new dog is biting the wrong people.

Is Biden so disconnected from the families of US service members that he needs to compare his loss to theirs?
Joe cannot display the much-needed empathy that these families deserve. He resorts to comparing their loss to his own experience of losing his son, Beau, six years ago to cancer after returning from Iraq.
Joe fails miserably at being a compassionate human being. He lacks care, compassion, and genuine concern for others. He is a narcissist.

The Problem: A 65-year-old woman bitten by a shark off Rockaway Beach.
Once again, a swimmer, this time a 65-year-old woman, was attacked and severely bitten by a shark while swimming near the Rockaway shoreline (“Blood on the sand,” Aug. 9).
This incident marks the first shark attack in this area since the 1950s.
Fortunately, lifeguards were able to provide immediate first aid, which likely saved her life. We commend these lifeguards for their swift response, as it is part of their training.
We hope for a speedy recovery for the victim. Jones Beach was also closed due to a shark sighting off its shores. There seems to be an increase in these attacks along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts due to the unusually warm waters near our shores.

It is disheartening to read about Tatyana Koltunyuk, the 65-year-old woman who was bitten by a shark at Rockaway Beach recently.
There have been several shark attacks across the country lately, emphasizing the need for caution while swimming.
This means following the instructions of lifeguards. To Koltunyuk and her family, I offer my sincere prayers for a speedy recovery.
