Attempted Destruction of Video Evidence by Trump and Employee

Prosecutors have recently amended the charges against former President Donald Trump, accusing him and the maintenance chief at Mar-a-Lago, Carlos De Oliveira, of attempting to delete security footage near a storage room before investigators could access it. In addition to the 31 counts Trump already faces, he is now charged with illegally retaining national defense information. De Oliveira, who works at Trump’s Florida home, has been charged with conspiracy to obstruct efforts to retrieve the documents. Trump’s spokesperson responded to the new charges, dismissing them as a desperate attempt by President Biden’s administration to harass and influence the 2024 presidential race. Despite the charges, both Trump and De Oliveira have pleaded not guilty. The revised indictment also revealed surveillance camera footage showing Nauta moving boxes of documents, while De Oliveira allegedly requested the deletion of the computer server containing the security footage. The three defendants are now all facing charges related to altering, destroying, or concealing objects and documents. It’s worth noting that Trump’s lawyers also met with prosecutors regarding a potential indictment related to efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.
