Astonishing Transformation: Neglected 1970 DBE Mk2 Aston Martin, Left to Decay for Two Decades and Sporting Numerous Holes, Now Valued at £500K

The Classic 1970 DBE Mk2 Aston Martin, which spent 20 years rotting in a field and had more holes than a block of Swiss cheese, has been beautifully restored and is now valued at £500,000. The car was initially driven to France but was left abandoned after its driver door caught fire. It remained untouched for two decades until a passionate Paris property developer and classic car collector discovered it through word of mouth. Intrigued by the vehicle’s potential, he purchased it for an undisclosed amount and had it transported to Britain for restoration.

Aston Service Dorset, a well-established family-run business, took on the challenging task of restoring the car. The restoration process took three years and cost a staggering £250,000. The car was stripped down to the bare chassis and converted to a left-hand drive to comply with French road regulations. Extensive repairs were carried out on the thin sheet steel section, particularly focusing on the engine bay area and the rear end. The car’s original red body paint was replaced with a classic Aston Martin color called mink, and the interior was revamped with navy leather.

The rebuilt and upgraded 4.2-liter engine now enables the car to reach a top speed of 150mph. However, due to the lack of the original odometer, it is unknown how many miles the car had covered in the 1970s.

Recent estimates value the fully restored Aston Martin at £500,000, indicating that the collector may make an impressive profit if he decides to sell it. Antony Forshaw, from Aston Service Dorset, recalled the car’s history and the remarkable transformation it underwent. He believes that the collector initially had plans to sell the car but may now be reconsidering due to his satisfaction with the restoration.

Overall, this classic Aston Martin has undergone a remarkable journey from a dilapidated vehicle left to decay in a field to a stunningly restored masterpiece worth a significant sum.
