The lead singer passed away in June at the age of 63 after a long battle with cancer.
In a video posted on Twitter today, the band expressed their desire to play their music and see what unfolds.
Joe Jewell, Alan Downey, and Billy McGuinness stood side by side in the black-and-white clip, expressing their gratitude to fans for their support.
“It’s an emotional day today,” added McGuinness. “We haven’t been together in over a year, and just setting up the equipment and playing the songs. It’s also emotional because Christy isn’t here…which is emotional in its own way.”
Downey said, “We came out here today as a way to express our grief and the sorrow we feel.”
He added that there is solace in playing music after such a long absence.
“It’s great to play. We don’t know where we’re headed or what we’re doing, but we’re here to start and find out,” Mr. McGuinness said.
“Thank you so much for your support throughout the year. It has been a challenging year for everyone. Thank you again, and stay tuned.”
Dignam passed away on June 13, surrounded by his loved ones.

In a brief statement, Aslan expressed their profound devastation at losing not just a band member, but also a dear friend they had shared their lives with for so many years.
“The band and Christy’s family request privacy during this time.”
Their final performance together took place at Kilkenny’s Ballykeefe Amphitheatre last August.
The pinnacle of their career was supposed to be a performance at the 3Arena last September to celebrate their 40th anniversary, but it was canceled due to Dignam’s illness.
In April, Dignam spoke on RTÉ Radio 1 and reflected on his “brilliant life” and the unparalleled feeling of having fans sing his songs back to him.
