Armed Man Arrested at Kennedy Event: Full Account and Latest Updates

An astonishing incident unfolded outside a campaign event in Los Angeles featuring Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as an armed man, accused of impersonating a federal officer, was apprehended by the police. The Los Angeles Police Department received a distress call on Friday afternoon reporting the presence of a man wearing a US Marshals Service badge, with a loaded gun and holster, just outside the theater where the Democratic presidential candidate was due to deliver a speech. The security team of Kennedy promptly surrounded the suspect, who was ultimately taken into custody by the LAPD. The FBI was also present at the scene. Fortunately, no one was harmed during the incident, as reported by the AP.

According to a statement from the campaign, “The man claimed to be part of Kennedy’s security team” and insisted on being taken to the candidate right away. He has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and has been identified by the police as Adrian Paul Aispuro, 44, as per an article by the Washington Post. Aispuro was held in custody on a $35,000 bail. Raymond Aispuro, the suspect’s brother, informed the Post that he drove his brother to the event, under the impression that it was a private security job. He further stated that both of them support Donald Trump and that his brother had no intention of causing harm or disrupting Robert Kennedy’s political agenda.

In a recent post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Kennedy expressed his gratitude for the swift response by the police. His campaign revealed that Kennedy’s requests for Secret Service protection have been previously denied, but he plans to reapply this month. It should be noted that the decision regarding Secret Service protection lies with the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and a committee of congressional leaders, based on various factors including polling data, as clarified by the Post.
