The new entry-level Pencil USB-C magnetically attaches to iPads but can’t be charged that way
Apple has launched a new, entry-level Pencil with USB-C.
The new entry-level Pencil with USB-C is slightly shorter than Apple’s high-end, 2nd Generation Pencil. It features a matte finish and a flat edge, allowing it to magnetically attach to iPads with square sides. However, unlike the high-end Pencil, it cannot be charged or paired with an iPad via the magnetic attachment. Instead, it uses a USB-C port on the side for charging and connection. The Pencil also includes a slide-off end to cover the USB-C port when not in use.
Although the entry-level Pencil lacks pressure sensitivity, double-tap functionality, and free engraving, it introduces a hover feature exclusively for the iPad Pro M2 models.
