Anthony Rapp, ‘Rent’ Actor, Offers Stunning $3.85M NYC Residence

Discover this extraordinary home in downtown Manhattan.

Renowned actor Anthony Rapp, known for his performances on Broadway in “Rent” and as Lt. Cmdr. Paul Stamets on “Star Trek: Discovery,” is selling his East Village loft for $3.85 million. This stunning property is shared with his husband, life and leadership coach Ken Ithiphol. The couple purchased the second-floor loft at 32 E. 1st St. for $3.57 million in October 2021 and are now in search of a larger and more family-friendly home.

Last December, the couple celebrated the arrival of their first child, baby boy Rai Larson Ithiphol, through a surrogate. As they embark on a new chapter in their lives with expanding family needs, Rapp and Ithiphol are excited about the possibilities of finding a larger space.

In 2017, Rapp became the first actor to accuse Kevin Spacey of sexual assault when he was just 14 years old and Spacey was 26 years old. Rapp and another man filed a $40 million lawsuit against Spacey, however, they lost the case in October of last year.

This year, Rapp starred in the off-Broadway one-person show called “Without You,” which showcased the behind-the-scenes journey of bringing “Rent” to life, featuring songs from the musical and Rapp’s own compositions. The show has been well-received and is now going on tour, starting with a performance in San Francisco next week. Rapp will also be doing a concert series with Adam Pascal at the renowned Midtown Manhattan supper club, 54 Below, in January.

While Rapp’s career took off after landing a role in “Rent,” famously set in the East Village like his current apartment, this particular residence did not exist at that time.
