Angela Bassett, 65, Stuns in Shimmering Single-Strap Silver Gown as She Co-Hosts the Elizabeth Taylor Ball to End AIDS Alongside Husband Courtney B. Vance

Two-time Golden Globe winner Angela Bassett and her husband, two-time Emmy winner Courtney B. Vance, were picture-perfect as they hosted the Elizabeth Taylor Ball to End AIDS. The star-studded gala took place at the luxurious Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills. Angela, who was born in Detroit and is now 63 years old, and Courtney, who was born in New York and is now 65 years old, will soon celebrate their 26th wedding anniversary on October 12th.

Angela looked absolutely stunning in a silver-pleated gown with a single strap. She accessorized with a pearly silver box clutch, a diamond necklace, and earrings. However, it was notable that she did not wear her wedding ring. Her look was completed with a long raven fringed wig and a baby pink manicure. Courtney, on the other hand, looked debonair in a gun-metal suit paired with a white shirt, a black necktie, a chic hat, glasses, and shiny black dress shoes.

The couple, who originally met in 1980 while studying at the Yale School of Drama, are proud parents to their 17-year-old twins, Bronwyn Golden and Slater Josiah. They welcomed their twins via a surrogate.

Angela, who is also the president of the SAG Foundation, is currently portraying veteran criminal mastermind Jeremy Horne in Menhaj Huda’s bank heist drama, Heist 88, which is set in 1988 Chicago and premieres on September 29 on Showtime/Paramount+. She and Courtney both executive produced the film through their production company, Bassett/Vance Productions.

In addition to her film project, Angela will be honored with an honorary Oscar by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences during the 14th Governors Awards, which will be held on January 9, 2024. The event had been postponed due to strikes by the WGA and SAG/AFTRA. The actress also has a role in the upcoming Netflix fantasy film, Damsel, which was delayed due to the strikes.

Angela is set to reprise her role as LAPD patrol sergeant Athena Grant in the seventh season of the popular drama series, 9-1-1. The show, created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, will be moving from Fox to ABC next year.

The highlight of the evening was Angela and Courtney posing with Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson and Earlitha ‘Cookie’ Johnson, who received the Elizabeth Taylor Commitment to End AIDS Award for their long-standing advocacy work. Magic Johnson, the legendary NBA player, famously announced his own HIV diagnosis upon retiring from basketball in 1991. The couple received support from their children, including their son EJ Johnson, adopted daughter Elisa Johnson, and son Andre Johnson, along with wife Lisa.

Overall, the event was filled with glitz and glamour, honoring those who have dedicated themselves to fighting AIDS and raising awareness for the cause. Angela and Courtney’s presence added to the star power and fashion-forward style of the evening.
