Amy Hart’s Honest Response to Criticism Over Her Decision to Opt Out of Baby-Led Weaning with Son Stanley: “It’s Just Not a Good Fit for Our Family”

Amy Hart Responds to Critics Regarding Traditional Weaning Choice for Son Stanley

Amy Hart, the former Love Island star, has addressed criticism she received for choosing traditional weaning over baby-led weaning for her son Stanley. In an Instagram story post on Saturday, Amy defended her decision and assured fans that she had made the right choice for her family.

Baby-led weaning, also known as BLW, is an approach that skips purees and allows babies to transition directly from milk to solid foods. However, Amy explained that she preferred traditional weaning and believed it was best for her family. This decision sparked concern among some fans who worried that Stanley might struggle with motor skills development.

Addressing these concerns, Amy stated, “I didn’t want to do baby-led weaning. It’s not for me and it won’t fit in our family.” She emphasized that her choice should not be seen as anti-BLW rhetoric and that she respected other parenting approaches.

Amy shares her seven-month-old son, Stanley, with her fiancé Sam Rason. She wanted to reassure other mothers who were following a similar path, saying, “I just want to say this isn’t anti-BLW rhetoric. It’s just, I’m doing traditional weaning.”

To illustrate her point, Amy showed a video of Stanley effortlessly playing with a toy xylophone alongside Sam. This demonstrated that he was developing his motor skills just fine.

Amy rose to fame on Love Island in 2019 and gave birth to Stanley in March. She had previously documented her journey of freezing eggs, spending £12,000 to freeze 12 eggs due to fertility concerns. However, her pregnancy with Stanley was a surprise as she conceived naturally.

Amy and Sam announced their pregnancy on an episode of Loose Women in August 2022. Sam recently proposed to Amy during a cruise ship vacation.

In response to the criticism she received, Amy wanted to emphasize that every family knows what’s best for them and that it’s important to respect each other’s choices.
