Amazon announced today that its virtual health care marketplace, Amazon Clinic, now offers treatment for cough, cold, and flu. Customers can easily find this option by selecting “Cough, cold, and flu” from the treatment list on Amazon Clinic’s website or mobile app. They can then view a list of telehealth providers, compare prices, and response times.

Once users fill out an intake form outlining their symptoms and basic health history, they will be connected to a licensed clinician through a secure messaging platform or video call. The clinician will then provide appropriate treatment, which may include a prescription that can be filled at Amazon Pharmacy or another pharmacy.

“Getting prompt treatment for conditions like the flu is crucial,” said Dr. Nworah Ayogu, Chief Medical Officer and General Manager of Amazon Clinic, in a blog post. “By quickly connecting with a provider who understands their condition, customers can explore relief options and receive the care that’s right for them within minutes or hours instead of days or weeks.”

Launched in November 2022, Amazon Clinic serves as a platform to connect users with healthcare providers. The service is now available in all 50 states and Washington DC. Amazon Clinic offers care for more than 35 common health concerns, including asthma, eczema, acid reflux, and pinkeye.

This announcement comes as Amazon continues its efforts to enter the healthcare industry. Last year, the company launched and later discontinued a telehealth service called Amazon Care. It also acquired healthcare provider OneMedical for $3.9 billion and launched Amazon Pharmacy after acquiring PillPack.

In 2018, Amazon formed a joint venture with JP Morgan and Berkshire Hathaway to establish an employee healthcare operation, but the project was ultimately shut down in 2021.
