American Airlines Addresses Accusations Surrounding David Ryan Harris and Biracial Child Trafficking Allegations

Singer David Ryan Harris receives apology from American Airlines after false trafficking accusations

Singer David Ryan Harris recently received a sincere apology from American Airlines after its staff falsely accused him of trafficking his own children. Harris, known for hits like “Don’t Look Down,” was traveling with his sons Truman and Hendrix from Atlanta to Los Angeles on September 15. However, upon disembarking from the plane, Harris and his kids were met by airline staff and four police officers, based on a concern raised by a flight attendant.

In a video posted on September 23, Harris revealed that the concern was regarding his mixed-race children, who were unresponsive during an interaction with the flight attendant. Harris expressed his embarrassment and the subsequent questioning of his kids by the airline staff and police officers.

Taking to Instagram, Harris shared American Airlines’ statement, which acknowledged that their policies regarding suspected human trafficking were not followed in this instance. In the statement, the airline admitted that their flight attendant’s interaction and observations did not indicate any signs of human trafficking. The airline offered a heartfelt apology to Harris and his family for the actions taken.

Harris, who has collaborated with industry heavyweights like John Mayer and Dave Matthews Band, saw the situation as a teachable moment. He had initially sought an apology and an explanation of policy, believing that a slow or tentative response from a 7-year-old on an early morning flight should not be enough to call the authorities. Harris criticized the lack of diligence on the part of the flight attendant and the corporate arrogance and lack of customer service response from the airline.

Despite his criticism, Harris applauded American Airlines for apologizing and has started a petition to implement mandatory ID checks for children traveling with their parents. The Post has reached out to American Airlines for additional comment.
