‘Always Challenging’: Zak, Son of Robin Williams, Honors His Late Father on the Ninth Anniversary of His Passing

Zak Williams, the son of the late Robin Williams, took a moment to honor his father on the ninth anniversary of his passing. In a heartfelt tribute, the 40-year-old actor shared a throwback photo of Robin Williams walking across a tennis court, playfully waving a racket to the crowd. Zak humorously commented on his father’s unique fashion choices and expressed his love for remembering him in this way. The photo captured Robin Williams wearing a white graphic T-shirt and printed khaki cargo shorts.

Accompanying the photo, Zak wrote, “Dad, on the 9th anniversary of your passing, I’m remembering you for your most excellent fashion choices. These days are always hard, and I love remembering you for being so very, very YOU. Love you so much!”

Robin Williams tragically died by suicide on August 11, 2014. Throughout his career, the legendary comedian battled addiction and had recently completed a rehab stint before his death. It was later discovered that he was also suffering from Lewy Body Dementia, a condition that often manifests with Parkinsonian symptoms, depression, and hallucinations.

Zak and Robin Williams’ daughter, Zelda, also paid tribute to their father last month on what would have been his 72nd birthday. Zak posted a photo of Robin Williams from his film “Good Morning, Vietnam” and shared how he loved the mischievous and loving grin that his father was known for. Zelda, on the other hand, mentioned her father’s support for the ongoing Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strikes, posting a picture of Robin Williams on the picket lines during the 2008 WGA strike.

In addition to Zak and Zelda, Robin Williams had another son, Cody, who does not appear to have social media. He shared his daughter Zelda and son Cody with his ex-wife Marsha Garces. They divorced in 2010, and Robin Williams was married to his third wife, Susan Schneider, until his passing.

Zak, who is now a father himself to two children, McLaurin Clement and Zola June, took the occasion of Father’s Day to remember his father’s courage and compassion. He shared a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), thanking all the dads for their efforts and specifically recognizing his father for teaching him kindness and compassion.
