Alleged Serial Bank Robber with Obsession for Kansas City Chiefs Identified as ‘ChiefsAholic’

Investigations reveal that Xaviar Babudar, popularly known as “ChiefsAholic,” was not just a dedicated fan of the Kansas City Chiefs but also a bank robber disguised as a wolf. Babudar, 29, frequently attended Chiefs games dressed up as the team’s mascot, according to the New York Times. While he claimed to finance his extravagant lifestyle by managing warehouses, prosecutors suspect that he was involved in at least seven bank robberies across six states last year. After evading arrest for several months, Babudar was finally apprehended on federal charges in California last week.

Prosecutors estimate that Babudar stole more than $800,000 in a series of bank and credit union robberies between April and December 2022, as reported by ESPN. During the same period, he also allegedly bought and redeemed approximately $1 million in casino chips across multiple states. For years, Babudar had been a prominent figure among Chiefs fans and even made appearances on NFL broadcasts, adds the New York Times. He portrayed himself as a high-roller, often sharing images of betting slips on social media. However, authorities reveal that he has a history of minor offenses and appears to have spent a significant portion of his life living in his car.

According to court documents filed after his arrest in December in Tulsa, where he allegedly brandished an air pistol at a teller, Babudar claimed to be homeless and without a stable income since 2021. A bail bondsman from the Tulsa area named Michael Lloyd had been searching for Babudar for months. In a gesture of support for a fellow Chiefs fan, Lloyd agreed to post an $80,000 bond. However, Babudar removed his ankle monitor and disappeared. Soon after paying the bail forfeiture, Lloyd received a call from the FBI about Babudar’s arrest. (Read more Kansas City Chiefs stories.)
