An Alabama woman, Carlethia “Carlee” Nicole Russell, who disappeared after reporting a toddler walking on the interstate, has returned to her family’s home.

Russell had been missing since Thursday, shortly after leaving work in Birmingham, Alabama. The Hoover Police Department received a call on Saturday night, informing them of Carlee’s return.

Firefighters accompanied the police to Russell’s home to assess her condition and transport her to a hospital for evaluation.

In an interview with WBRC, Hoover Police Chief Nicholas Derzis stated that they are uncertain how Russell returned home. He described her sudden arrival as her knocking on the door without any specific explanation.

While the police department wants to give Russell and her family time to reconnect, they do intend to question her in the future to gather additional information.

Russell initially went missing after reporting a toddler on I-459 South near mile marker 11. Police discovered Russell’s wig, hat, and cell phone near her vehicle. However, they found no evidence of a missing child or any calls regarding one.

A spokesperson for the Hoover Police Department declined to provide further details when requested, indicating that more information will be released later.
