Air Traffic Chaos Forces Man to Endure Marathon 36-Hour Bus Journey Home

  • Krys Moson found himself stranded in Italy due to air traffic control issues in the UK.
  • Ryanair gave him the option to either wait until Friday for a flight or take a 36-hour coach journey.
  • He chose the coach and has been documenting his journey on TikTok.

As a technical glitch in the UK’s air traffic control system continues to cause travel chaos, individuals are turning to TikTok to document their long and delayed journeys home. One such traveler is Krys Moson, who expected to be on a 2-hour flight from Rimini, Italy to London but was informed of the cancellation before even reaching the airport.

Ryanair gave Moson the option to either wait until Friday for another flight or embark on a series of coach rides to return to the UK. As he needed to be home for work, he chose the latter option.

Britain’s National Air Traffic Service (NATS) stated that due to a technical issue in their flight-planning system, they had to enforce traffic flow restrictions to ensure safety. Consequently, flights were canceled or delayed, airports became overcrowded, and uncertainty loomed over travelers who had gone on trips over the UK’s long weekend.

Moson boarded a coach in Italy that would take him to Frankfurt, Germany. From there, he planned to hop on another coach to Amsterdam and then to a ferry port or the Channel Tunnel for his return to the UK. He admitted that the journey was stressful as he had to constantly monitor updates.

In a TikTok post, Moson shared his travel plans, stating he would spend around one and a half days on buses due to the air traffic control issues. He acknowledged that his chosen route was not the easiest but deemed it part of the adventure.

Moson preferred the coach option, which would take approximately 36 hours, because it was affordable and less likely to be affected by air traffic problems. However, his initial coach was delayed by 1.5 hours, and he encountered further delays at the Austrian border, which might make it challenging to catch his connecting bus in Frankfurt.

He remained hopeful and appreciated the fact that a family had left his coach, leaving him with a table to himself. Currently en route to Frankfurt, Moson mentioned the continuous loud announcements in Italian that he couldn’t understand.
