AEW Investigates Alleged ‘Incident’ Involving CM Punk and Jack Perry Backstage at All In

On Sunday, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) hosted an outstanding pro wrestling event at London’s Wembley Stadium. However, an incident between two of the company’s stars may have overshadowed the show. Multiple reports claim that there was a backstage altercation between CM Punk and Jack Perry during the start of the show, just as the highly anticipated match between CM Punk and Samoa Joe for the Real World Championship was about to begin. AEW CEO Tony Khan confirmed during the post-show press conference that the incident was being investigated by officials.

The incident allegedly took place in the gorilla position and involved a physical confrontation between Punk and Perry. PW Insider reported that Punk was the aggressor. Despite conflicting reports, AEW star Miro appeared to deny at least one version of the incident, which claimed that Perry attacked Punk and was choked out.

Perry, the son of the late “Beverly Hills 90210” actor Luke Perry, had previously competed against Hook for the FTW Championship just minutes before the main card started. Punk’s match followed Perry’s.

Despite the backstage incident, AEW highlighted the record-breaking attendance at the Wembley show, boasting the “most paid fans ever at a pro wrestling event.” AEW stated that 81,035 fans were in attendance, although some wrestling fans debate whether it surpassed the attendance of WrestleMania 32.

It should be noted that Punk recently returned to AEW on the new show “Collision” after being off the air since last year’s All Out event. Reports suggested that he had a confrontation with AEW stars Kenny Omega, Nick Jackson, and Matt Jackson following comments he made to the media.

AEW’s next major event, All Out, is scheduled for September 3 in Chicago.
