Adult and juvenile apprehended for their involvement in Leimert Park restaurant robbery

A 19-year-old individual is currently in police custody for allegedly participating in a mob attack at a McDonald’s restaurant in Leimert Park. The incident, which was captured on video and shared on social media, involved the destruction of property and theft of cash from the registers.

The chaotic scene unfolded on Monday at approximately 7:45 p.m., where a large group of people stormed the McDonald’s located in the 4300 block of Crenshaw Boulevard. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, members of the group began verbally abusing and intimidating the employees.

The situation escalated when one male suspect forcefully knocked over a dessert display counter, causing it to shatter. Three other male suspects then proceeded to jump over the restaurant’s front counter in an attempt to steal cash registers. They successfully managed to take at least two registers before making their getaway, leaving the restaurant in disarray.

One of the suspects, identified as Kenneth Fowler from Lomita, was apprehended and initially booked on suspicion of receiving stolen property. However, further investigation revealed his involvement in jumping the counter and stealing one of the cash drawers. As a result, he was denied bail and is currently in jail, according to the sheriff’s inmate records.

A second suspect, a juvenile, was also arrested and booked on suspicion of robbery. However, he was ultimately released into the custody of his parents. Witnesses observed him taking one of the cash registers during the robbery.

The investigation into this mob takeover remains ongoing. The LAPD Southwest Area Detectives can be reached at 213-485-2561 for anyone with information regarding the incident. Anonymous tips can also be provided to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
