Kevin Spacey revealed on Monday that he was hospitalized during his time in Uzbekistan for the Tashkent International Film Festival.
The former star of “House of Cards,” who was previously accused of child sexual abuse and faced multiple sexual assault charges before being acquitted, made this announcement during a speech at the festival.
During his speech, Spacey, 64, shared a surprising incident he experienced at the Afrasiyab Museum in Samarkand. He said, “I was looking at these extraordinary murals on the walls, and I suddenly felt my entire left arm go numb for about eight seconds.”
Spacey quickly sought medical attention at the local medical center, where he underwent various tests, including an MRI. He shared that he had spent the previous night at a bar in Tashkent, drinking beer with fellow filmmakers, which resulted in a lack of sleep.
Despite the initial alarm, Spacey reassured the crowd that the diagnosis turned out to be “completely normal.” He expressed his gratitude that it wasn’t anything more serious and emphasized the importance of unity and support among people.

In 2017, the Oscar-winning actor’s reputation took a sharp downturn when actor Anthony Rapp accused him of attempting to seduce him in 1986. Rapp was only 14 at the time, while Spacey was 26. Spacey responded to the accusation by expressing his inability to recall the event but extended his sincere apology if his behavior was as described by Rapp.
Rapp later filed a lawsuit against Spacey in 2020, alleging sexual assault, sexual battery, and emotional distress. Spacey was acquitted of the charges in 2022.
Additionally, in the same year, Spacey faced charges of alleged sexual assault against four men in the U.K. However, he was acquitted in July.
