Activision Clarifies File Sizes for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Launch
With the early access campaign of Modern Warfare 3 now available, players have discovered that the total file size of Call of Duty on PlayStation 5 is a massive 234.9GB. This includes not only Modern Warfare 3’s campaign but also the addition of Modern Warfare 2, now known as Call of Duty HQ. Please note that this installation does not include other unreleased content such as multiplayer and zombies.
Activision has issued a statement to explain the situation, acknowledging that the file sizes are larger than last year. According to the statement, the increased file size is due to the inclusion of open world Zombies, support for item carry forward from Modern Warfare 2, and map files for Call of Duty: Warzone. Activision assures players that their final installation size will actually be smaller than the combined previous Call of Duty experiences, as part of ongoing optimization efforts.
To reduce the install size, players can navigate to the manage files section of the COD HQ launcher menu and uninstall specific content they are not playing. Activision will provide more information about the launch in the coming days.
Call of Duty players are familiar with large file sizes, but the unique launch of Modern Warfare 3 has taken it to another level.
Developed by Sledgehammer Games in partnership with Infinity Ward, the Modern Warfare 3 campaign serves as a direct sequel to last year’s Modern Warfare 2. It comprises 15 missions, each rewarding players with items upon completion. These rewards can be utilized in multiplayer, zombies, and Warzone modes.

- “Corso” Operator

- 1 hour Double Player XP Token and 1 hour Double Weapon XP Token
- “Doc” Operator
- “Skull Rhapsody” Calling Card
- 1 hour Double Player XP Token and 1 hour Double Weapon XP Token
- “Jabber” Operator
- Campaign Completion Emblem
- Campaign Completion Weapon Blueprint
Modern Warfare 3 will officially launch on November 10. This will be the first Call of Duty game released after Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, although it will not be available on Game Pass until 2024.
