A ‘Very, Very Sinister Event’ Unfolds in Houston Suburb

According to the police, an 18-year-old woman was subjected to sexual abuse for a month while being held captive in a Texas neighborhood. The woman managed to escape her restraints and seek help from a resident in the Houston suburb of Humble. The resident described the woman as “shaking” and barefoot when she showed up at her door, asking for assistance late on Sunday evening. Another resident also noticed her and pointed towards a nearby home, but did not open his door. On receiving a report of “a female in distress,” officers arrived at the scene and spoke to the woman. Const. Mark Herman stated that she described the incident as “a very, very evil, evil thing.” This information was reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

After further investigation, the police arrested a couple, 31-year-old Jose Reyes and 29-year-old Jaqueline Macias, on charges of aggravated kidnapping. The woman had initially visited Reyes’ home upon his convince but was then held against her will. He gained her trust and took her back to his home, where Macias was present. There, she was assaulted, chained to a bed, and sexually assaulted multiple times, as per the police. Two weeks later, Macias gave birth to a baby fathered by Reyes. CBS News reported that when the couple left the house on Sunday, the victim saw it as her opportunity to escape.

Despite being restrained, the woman managed to free herself and ran to a nearby house for help. Const. Mark Herman described her as disoriented and in need of assistance. She was taken to a hospital, although her current condition remains unknown. The police observed marks on her arms and legs that were consistent with restraints. Upon their return to the home pointed out by the victim, the couple was immediately arrested. The authorities are continuing their investigation and expect to file additional charges.
