There is no team that A.J. Brown has enjoyed playing against more in 2023 than the Washington Commanders.

When he needed a bounce-back game, the Commanders were the perfect remedy. Brown’s outstanding performance in Week 4, with nine catches for 175 yards and two touchdowns, served as a springboard for his current impressive form.

But Brown saved his best for when he faced off against Washington at FedEx Field in Week 8.

In an incredible play, with only 39 seconds left in the first half, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw a back-shoulder pass to the left sideline. As Brown battled with cornerback Benjamin St-Juste, he spun around, extended his right hand, and made a remarkable one-handed catch.

In one fluid motion, Brown brought the ball to his chest and got his knee down in the end zone for a touchdown.

However, Hurts and Brown weren’t finished yet. Despite the Commanders assigning a safety to cover Brown, the Eagles remained unfazed.

Acknowledging the coverage, Hurts threw a short pass for their next touchdown. Brown perfectly anticipated the situation, applying the brakes at the last possible moment to secure the pass. This caused the defenders to collide with each other, allowing Brown to maneuver through them and score his second touchdown of the game.

At that point, Brown had accumulated seven catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns. In the fourth quarter, his eighth catch of the day enabled him to break the NFL record for the most consecutive games with 125 receiving yards or more.

Previously held by the Detroit Lions’ Calvin Johnson at five games, Brown now holds the record with impressive performances. He amassed 131 yards in Week 3 against the Buccaneers, followed by 175 yards against the Commanders, 127 yards against the Rams, another 131 yards against the Jets, and finally, 131 yards and a touchdown against the Dolphins.
