June 23 (UPI) — The highly anticipated 2023 BET Awards are scheduled to take place on Sunday.
This year, the prestigious event, now in its 23rd year, will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and will be broadcasted live at 8 p.m. EDT on BET.
Renowned for recognizing and celebrating the outstanding achievements of Black entertainers and individuals of color in music, film, sports, and philanthropy, the BET Awards will also commemorate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop this year.
Leading the pack with an impressive seven nominations is the multi-talented singer and rapper, Drake. Following closely behind are GloRilla with six nominations, and 21 Savage and Lizzo, who both received five nominations.
Expect captivating performances from GloRilla, E-40, Ja Rule, Tyga, Lil Uzi Vert, and other talented artists.

Exciting Participants
Prepare to be entertained by the incredible lineup of performers including GloRilla, Big Daddy Kane, E-40, Fat Joe, Ja Rule, Remy Ma, Soulja Boy, Warren G, Tyga, Coco Jones, Lil Uzi Vert, and many more.
Although the host for the ceremony has not been officially announced by BET, the talented actress Taraji P. Henson has previously hosted the show for the past two years, showcasing her incredible charisma and hosting skills.
Anticipated Nominations
Drake stands out as the frontrunner with seven nominations, including Best Male Hip-Hop Artist and Album of the Year for his collaboration with 21 Savage in “Her Loss”. GloRilla closely follows with six nominations, featuring categories like Best New Artist, Best Female Hip Hop Artist, and Album of the Year for “Anyways, Life’s Great.”
Also receiving significant recognition are 21 Savage and Lizzo, both with five nominations.
Notable nominees include Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, The Weeknd, and H.E.R.
