This particular X-wing model was one of four “hero” models crafted to capture intricate close-up shots during the iconic third act battle in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. It boasts distinct red stripes on its top two wings, signifying its association with the Rebel Alliance squadron’s esteemed “Red Leader.”
In addition to representing Red Leader’s ship, the model also stood in for Red Five, piloted by Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), and Red Two, piloted by Wedge Antilles (Denis Lawson).
