Experience the Surprise of Disney Characters in Halloween Costumes on a Cruise
Imagine our excitement as we eagerly awaited the opportunity to meet Mickey, Minnie, and other beloved Disney characters in their delightful Halloween costumes aboard the Disney Cruise Line. However, we almost missed out on this enchanting experience.
On the first day of our cruise, filled with anticipation, we joined a queue full of excited children and spirited adults to meet Minnie Mouse dressed in her adorable Halloween attire. To our surprise, Minnie appeared in her usual cruise costume, impersonating the ship’s captain.
It turned out that the Disney characters only wore their Halloween costumes for meet-and-greets scheduled at the end of the first day and throughout the second day of sailing.
Days three and four brought a mix of pirate outfits and their regular cruise attire for the characters.
While Disney advertises these meet-and-greets through their Cruise Line Navigator App, schedules for the encounters and other activities are only made available once you are on the ship, limiting planning ahead of time.
Even while onboard, we found the schedules to be less than helpful. Although we knew that there would be meet-and-greets with Minnie Mouse, for instance, we had no insight into which costume she would be wearing. We had to wait in line to find out.
To ensure we didn’t miss out, we made regular visits to the Grand Hall, where most meet-and-greets were held, to gauge the situation. Sadly, we would often leave disappointed upon seeing Minnie Mouse as the cruise captain or Donald dressed as a pirate.
Fortunately, we eventually managed to capture photos with most of the characters in their Halloween ensembles and even had the pleasure of meeting Minnie, Daisy, and Clarabelle dressed as the Sanderson sisters from the beloved film “Hocus Pocus.”
Despite these fortunate encounters, we couldn’t help but feel a tinge of disappointment. After all, it was a Halloween cruise, and we expected the characters to embrace the holiday spirit throughout the entire voyage, not just for a day and a half of rushed meet-and-greets.
In response to our inquiry, a Disney Cruise Line representative informed Insider that “characters will appear in different celebratory ensembles throughout the voyage depending on the itinerary.” Unfortunately, itineraries can only be viewed through the Navigator app once you are onboard the ship, leaving little room for advanced planning.
