Russia is reporting that over 335,000 individuals have joined its military and volunteer units since the beginning of this year. However, a recent report states that Russia has no plans for further deployment to Ukraine, according to Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
“Since the start of the year, more than 335,000 people have entered military service under contract and in volunteer formations,” Shoigu added. “In September alone, more than 50,000 citizens signed contracts.”
Last September, Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered a partial mobilization of 300,000 military reservists. However, this move led many young Russians to leave the country to avoid being sent to the front lines, as reported by Reuters.
Russia has announced that it will be pressing charges against high-ranking members of the Ukrainian military for “terrorist attacks.” The Investigative Committee of Russia has accused four individuals, including the Chief of the Main Directorate of Intelligence and the Ukrainian Air Force Commander, of carrying out drone strikes on Russian territory and regions of Ukraine currently under Russian control.
An official statement from Russia indicates their growing concern about the effectiveness of Ukrainian drone technology since the invasion began. Ukrainian military forces have been using unmanned aerial vehicles to conduct attacks inside Russian territory, expanding the conflict beyond the front lines.
