Horse Chased Down on Kentucky Highway Finds New Home
September 27 (UPI) – A horse has found a new home after being apprehended on a Kentucky highway by a concerned citizen with assistance from sheriff’s deputies and state police.
Kohl Centers recounts that while driving south on Interstate 75, he noticed a wandering horse on the road.
“There were no officers present. It was just the horse’s owner, and everyone else was simply driving around it,” Centers told WKYT-TV.
Centers immediately dialed 911, prompting the involvement of Madison County deputies and two state troopers in the pursuit.
“The horse eluded us a couple of times, but once I got ahold of it, I figured it would be best to exit the interstate and allow traffic to pass since it was causing a significant backup,” said Centers.
Using a dog leash, Centers guided the horse off the highway. The entire ordeal lasted more than four hours.
“I ended up walking the horse from Clays Ferry all the way up to exit 99. It took quite a bit of time,” Centers revealed.
In a Facebook post, Lexington County Animal Care and Control announced that the horse, named Fast Betty, “is now safe and content in her new residence in Paris.”
The post humorously mentioned, “They call her Fast Betty, but she certainly took her time entering the trailer.”
