The National Toy Hall of Fame at The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, N.Y., has revealed its 12 finalists for induction in 2023. Check out the photo below, courtesy of the National Toy Hall of Fame.
It’s worth noting that Ken’s nomination follows Ryan Gosling’s portrayal of the doll in this year’s blockbuster Barbie movie. Barbie was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame back in 1998.
“The National Toy Hall of Fame is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and the 12 finalists for 2023 are the strongest yet. We have classic tabletop games like Battleship and Connect 4, active toys like the Little Tykes Cozy Coupe and the perennially popular Nerf toys, and even some slimy fun with our first-time finalist, slime,” said Christopher Bensch, vice president for collections, in a news release (source).
The finalists are chosen based on criteria such as “icon status,” longevity, discovery, and innovation.
The final inductees will be announced on November 9th.
