Care Home Nurse Struck Off for Protesting Against Lockdowns in Uniform and Promoting Covid Pandemic Hoax

A care home nurse, Carley Louise Stewart, has been removed from her nursing position after attending a Covid-conspiracy rally in London while wearing her nursing uniform. The rally took place in August 2020 and Stewart was seen holding a placard that questioned the existence of the pandemic. The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) ruled that Stewart’s attendance at the protest and her multiple comments spreading distrust in official guidance made her unfit to continue her nursing career.

One of the comments that led to her removal was her accusation that those following Covid restrictions were participating in satanic rituals. Stewart, in her early 30s, also claimed that she had hired friends and family as temporary employees to bypass rules restricting Christmas gatherings in 2020.

The NMC deemed Stewart’s comments and actions inflammatory and potentially harmful to the public. They stated that her behavior undermined trust in health professionals and encouraged the disregarding of official health advice. The panel concluded that nothing less than striking Stewart off the nursing register would be an adequate response.

It is worth noting that Stewart is not the first nurse to face consequences for spreading Covid misinformation. Kate Shemirani, another ex-nurse and anti-vaxx campaigner, was also removed from the NMC register for her role in promoting false information about the pandemic.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, nearly 230,000 individuals in the UK have lost their lives to Covid-19.
