For just $87, I purchased a single-way ticket from Cebu to Singapore, which already accounted for the additional fee for a 20-kilogram or 44-pound luggage allowance. This direct flight usually takes three hours and 45 minutes.
Initially, my flight was scheduled to depart at 7:50 p.m. However, a day before, I received an email notifying me of a “minor schedule change” that would delay my flight by 40 minutes. To be safe, I arrived at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport about three hours before the revised departure time. Surprisingly, there was no one in line for check-in.
Typically, on short-haul flights within the region, I don’t bring a jacket onboard as the weather is usually hot. However, this flight proved to be one of my biggest mistakes in that aspect.
Before going through immigration, I had an iced tea. To my surprise, the airport’s air conditioning was blasting cold air, making me feel extremely cold as I hadn’t packed a jacket. I decided to browse through some shops near the gate, but the jackets there were excessively expensive, priced at around $600.
To keep my body moving and warm, I ended up strolling around for an hour.
