The Arcadia police were forced to shoot and wound a 21-year-old woman who was brandishing a knife and moving towards an officer. This incident took place on California Street around 9:09 p.m. on Saturday.
Upon receiving a report of an individual armed with a knife, Arcadia police officers reached the scene where they discovered that the woman had temporarily left the location. However, she returned shortly after and began advancing towards the officer. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is currently assisting Arcadia police in investigating the matter.
Despite multiple requests to reveal her hands, the woman pulled out a kitchen knife from her pocket. She then proceeded to run at the officer with the knife raised above her shoulders in a stabbing position. In response, the officer fired shots to neutralize the threat, hitting the woman in the upper torso. She is currently in stable condition at a nearby hospital.
Initially, it was mistakenly reported that the woman was shot during a routine traffic stop. However, further investigations revealed the true nature of the incident. Fortunately, there were no other injuries during the incident.
