She had been working out at the gym since 2019, enjoyed horse riding, spent weekends walking her dogs or relaxing at the beach, and had a physically demanding job.
Following her diagnosis, Amy underwent two rounds of chemotherapy that involved a 35-day cycle with a two-week hospital stay each time. These stays were incredibly challenging for Amy as she felt lonely and isolated. However, she praised her doctors and nurses for their incredible care. In January, Amy underwent an eight-hour surgery to remove the cancerous part of her femur. The bone was replaced with a donor’s bone from the United States, held together by one plate and eleven screws. She was relieved to learn that her knee joint was saved, as there was a risk she may have needed a knee replacement.
Amy’s journey hasn’t been easy, and she struggled mentally with the aftermath of surgery and her cancer journey. She felt a loss of independence and had to rely on others for support. However, her family, friends, and boyfriend provided unwavering support, and she is grateful for the strength of their relationships. Despite the challenges, Amy received good news in March when she was declared officially cancer-free. It was a victory after a difficult battle.
