When Ayo Edebiri and Jamie Lee Curtis met for the first time on a red carpet in March, they shared a secret.
Their meeting took place at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, where Curtis had a surprise guest starring role on Edebiri’s hit show, “The Bear.”
Both Edebiri and Curtis were aware of this, but they wanted to keep it a secret from everyone else.
Curtis’ representative confirmed that they had not met before but knew that Jamie would be working on the show.
According to Collider, filming for season two of “The Bear” was already underway by the time they met.
Edebiri, listed as a co-executive producer for episode six, knew that Curtis would be playing the role of Carmy Berzatto’s mom in the flashback Christmas episode.
However, they wanted to keep Curtis’ surprise appearance a secret from the rest of the cast and crew.
A video from the red carpet captured the moment Edebiri and Curtis met for the first time.
The 45-second clip shows Curtis mid-interview with Extra, talking to an off-screen Edebiri. Curtis offers Edebiri a mint, and they shake hands after introducing themselves.
Curtis mentions that Edebiri seemed starstruck, to which the Extra reporter comments that Curtis is equally starstruck.
The video cuts to another clip where Curtis pulls a bashful Edebiri back into the frame. They exchange a few words before saying goodbye.
