Manila Water is encouraging its customers to take advantage of its desludging service in July without any additional cost. Regularly siphoning septic tanks every five years can effectively prevent toilets from overflowing, especially during the rainy season. To address this issue and protect public health, Manila Water is actively deploying its fleet of siphoning trucks and reminding its customers to avail of the free desludging service this month.
Customers residing in specific areas of the City of Manila, Makati City, San Juan City, Quezon City, Mandaluyong City, Pasig City, and Taguig City can expect the desludging caravan to visit their barangays. Similarly, residents in certain communities in Rizal Province should also prepare their septic tanks for desludging. It is advisable for residents to coordinate with their respective barangay offices to schedule their specific desludging appointments.
Manila Water assures its customers that the septage collected during the desludging process undergoes a rigorous treatment process that complies with the regulatory standards set by the Department of Environment and the Laguna Lake Development Authority. The treated septage is processed at the North Septage Treatment Plant in San Mateo and the South Septage Treatment Plant in FTI Taguig, which have the capacity to treat up to 83 million liters of wastewater per day. The effluent from these treatment plants is tested to ensure its safety for recreational water activities and marine life.
