- Starbucks has recently introduced a bottled version of its popular Pink Drink.
- The Pink Drink gained popularity in 2016 when customers started adding coconut milk to an existing beverage.
- After trying both versions, I discovered that the bottled Pink Drink is nearly identical to the one made by baristas.
Starbucks has recently launched a bottled version of the famous Pink Drink. I had the opportunity to try both the bottled and barista-made versions.
The announcement about the bottled beverage was made by the coffee chain in April, along with the introduction of several other new and returning products.
According to Starbucks, the Pink Drink has been on their menu since 2017. It originated unofficially a year earlier when customers started ordering Strawberry Açaí Refreshers and adding coconut milk, which ultimately gave birth to the Pink Drink and its signature pink color.
As described on the menu, the Pink Drink is a combination of passion fruit, strawberries, and coconut milk poured over ice.
I decided to try the in-store Pink Drink first since I had never tasted it before
Before getting my hands on the new bottled Pink Drink, I wanted to experience the original version and understand the hype around it.
I purchased a 16-ounce grande Pink Drink from my local Starbucks for $5.43, and according to the app, it contained 140 calories.
Upon taking my first sip, I immediately noticed the strong strawberry flavor. This was enhanced by the actual sliced strawberries added to the cup.
The taste resembled gourmet strawberry milk – light and refreshing.
The coconut milk added creaminess to the drink but didn’t contribute much flavor, and the consistency was not as thick as I expected.
Although I’m more of a coffee drinker, I could understand the appeal of this beverage for those who want to reduce their caffeine intake or try something different.
