- Divorce documents reveal that Kevin Costner’s estranged wife is requesting a monthly payment of nearly $250k.
- In addition, Christine Baumgartner, Costner’s soon-to-be ex-wife, claims that the actor informed their children about the divorce through a Zoom call.
- Baumgartner states that she was not present during the call as Costner wanted to tell the children first.
In court documents, Kevin Costner’s estranged wife alleges that the actor informed their children about their divorce through a brief Zoom call, in which Baumgartner was not present.
Christine Baumgartner, Costner’s estranged wife, filed for divorce last month and is seeking a monthly payment of $248,000 for herself and their three children, Cayden, Hayes, and Grace.
In her filing, Baumgartner claims that Costner broke the news to their children during a 10-minute Zoom call he made from his hotel room in Las Vegas. She expresses confusion over why the news was delivered this way when Costner would be home only five days later.
“After a 24-year relationship, from his hotel room in Las Vegas, Kevin told our three children that we were getting divorced over a 10-minute Zoom call without me present,” Baumgartner stated in the court filing. “I am still confused by his motivation to do this via a very short Zoom session, especially since he was planning on being home five days later.”
The couple had been married for nearly 20 years before Baumgartner initiated the divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.
Baumgartner claims that despite ongoing discussions about how to inform their children, Costner wanted to be the one to break the news to them.
In another document, Baumgartner details the luxurious lifestyle they led, including private planes, multiple estates, extravagant vacations, country club memberships, private chefs, and elite schools for their children.
The 49-year-old handbag designer reveals that Costner earned $19.5 million in 2022 and covered the family’s $11.9 million in expenses, resulting in a net income of $7.5 million.
“Our marital lifestyle, including that of the children, was consistent with Kevin’s long-term exceedingly high income,” Baumgartner stated. “My primary goal is to ensure that the children continue to thrive and, when they are with me, live in a home and lifestyle that is at least somewhat comparable to that of their father.”
Baumgartner, who is currently unemployed, emphasizes that her days are spent raising their children and managing their households, projects, and staff. She asserts that apart from $50,000 in the bank, she has no other assets or income.
Baumgartner also insists that she has attempted to keep their highly publicized divorce private to protect their family’s privacy.
“I have avoided being public about the reasons for our divorce,” Baumgartner stated in a declaration. “I have done this to protect our family’s privacy. I did not pressure Kevin to leave the ‘Yellowstone’ show. Kevin’s public attacks on me are harmful for our family. I believe they are meant to pressure me to move out without a temporary child support order in place.”
As of now, lawyers for Baumgartner and Costner have not responded to requests for comment.
