An eight-year-old girl tragically lost her life after enduring unimaginable torture at the hands of her father and his mistress, a Dubai court revealed.
Wadeema al Sherawi suffered from extreme hunger and was locked away as a form of punishment on the night she passed away. In a desperate attempt to survive, she resorted to consuming her own waste, resulting in vomiting.
The father, Hamad Saoud al Sherawi, 29, and his mistress, Al Anood al Ameri, 27, face charges of torturing and imprisoning Wadeema and her seven-year-old sister, Mira. They are also accused of illegally burying Wadeema following her death.

The couple repeatedly subjected the girls to electric shocks with wires, beatings with metal bars, and burns from hot irons and cigarettes.
Police officer Essam Obaid, 35, testified that Wadeema and Mira were frequently left without food, leading them to resort to consuming their own waste.
During the investigation, authorities discovered a gruesome scene in the filthy studio apartment where the couple resided. The furniture was in disarray, the clothes smelled awful, and there were signs of abuse everywhere. Additionally, two irons with marks of torture, metal bars, sticks, and stun guns were found.
Al Sherawi and Al Ameri, currently being held separately, stood in court as the judge, Maher Salameh, heard the horrific details of their crimes. Al Ameri clutched her newborn baby, Saoud.

Initially, the girls’ uncle blamed both Al Sherawi and Al Ameri for Wadeema’s death but later changed his statement, portraying Al Sherawi as a loving father. Al Sherawi denies all charges except for unlawfully burying Wadeema, while Al Ameri has pleaded guilty to all charges.
Al Anood claimed that she called Hamad when she saw Wadeema in distress, resulting in her death. She admitted to using hot irons as a form of punishment, justifying it as a consequence for Wadeema’s disobedience.
The judge inquired if there were alternative ways to discipline the children, to which Al Sherawi’s defense offered no response. Al Anood mentioned that they washed and dressed Wadeema’s body before burying her in the desert.
Mira, the surviving sister, testified in court but proceedings were held in chambers after Al Sherawi demanded that reporters be excluded. Forensic experts were unable to determine the cause of Wadeema’s death due to the advanced state of decomposition.
The girls’ biological mother, Salma Obaid, had lost custody and had not seen her children for six months leading up to Wadeema’s death. Mira miraculously survived the abuse but has been left with a permanent disability. The trial has been adjourned until November 25.
