In a series of linked early-morning incidents in Nottingham, England, three people were found dead and three others were injured after being hit by a van, according to the police.
A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, as reported by Nottinghamshire Police.
Chief Constable Kate Meynell described the incidents as “horrific and tragic” and confirmed that two people were found dead in one street while the third victim was found in a different street unrelated to the van incident. The injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at a hospital, with no immediate information on their condition.
The motive behind the incidents has not been determined by the police.
Meynell stated, “We believe these three incidents are all connected and we have a suspect in custody. Our team of detectives is working diligently in the early stages of this investigation to establish the exact details of what occurred.”
Emergency services were dispatched to central Nottingham in response to what the police described as an “ongoing serious incident.”
Social media images showed police presence and cordons at various locations in the city center.
The city’s tram network announced the suspension of all services.
