Costa Mesa Road Rage Shooter Sentenced to 410 Years to Life for Fatal Shooting

A 42-year-old man has been sentenced to 410 years to life in prison for his involvement in a road-rage incident on Thanksgiving Day in Costa Mesa. The man, Lee Queuon Walker, opened fire on a pickup truck carrying six men, resulting in the death of one man and the injury of four others.

Walker was found guilty of first-degree murder and five counts of attempted murder. He tearfully apologized to the family of the deceased victim, expressing his regret for his actions. He claimed that his intention that night was simply to go to McDonald’s to get food for his child, but the situation escalated quickly when his side-view mirror was damaged by the pickup truck.

The judge acknowledged Walker’s remorse but disagreed with his version of events. She noted that Walker had a firearm and was prepared to use it, contradicting his claim of self-defense. She also expressed concern that such a trivial incident could result in a violent outburst.

Walker’s prior criminal history and status as a third-striker worsened his punishment. The victims, who were gardeners and landscapers, were spending their day off watching soccer and enjoying a meal when they encountered Walker.

The defense argued that Walker had the right to pursue the pickup truck after his vehicle was hit. They also claimed that the driver of the pickup truck was drunk. However, the prosecution presented evidence indicating that Walker’s actions were unjustifiable.
