The Toronto Raptors have finally filled their head coaching vacancy by hiring Memphis Grizzlies assistant Darko Rajakovic. Rajakovic, who has spent the past three years with the Grizzlies and previously worked as an assistant coach for the Phoenix Suns and Oklahoma Thunder, will be taking over from Nick Nurse, who was fired almost two months ago and has since become the head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers. The Raptors finished ninth in the Eastern Conference last season, with a record of 41-41, and missed out on the playoffs following their play-in loss to the Chicago Bulls. The vacancy made Toronto the only team without a head coach in the NBA prior to Rajakovic’s hiring. The Canadian Press first reported the news on June 10, 2023.
