The highly-anticipated season seven premiere of the popular Starz series, Outlander, was celebrated with a red carpet event at the BMCC Theater during the 2023 Tribeca Festival in New York City. Leading ladies Sophie Skelton and Caitriona Balfe stole the show with their elegant attire, posing for adoring photographers ahead of the screening of the new episodes. This season features 16 episodes, four more than usual to make up for the shorter season six due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Balfe’s pregnancy. However, these 16 episodes will air in two halves, with the first half premiering on June 16 through August 4, while the back half is set to return in 2024.
Outlander, featuring a talented cast including Sam Heughan and Richard Rankin in male leads, has become a fan favorite since it premiered in 2014. The land of the Frasers, Fraser’s Ridge in the New World, is changing in season seven, and they must change with it to protect what they’ve built. As the Revolutionary War approaches, the close family must navigate its perils in order to survive.
Other premieres during the Tribeca Festival included the two-part HBO Sports documentary, The Golden Boy, which features Mark Wahlberg and Mario Lopez as executive producers and explores the life of boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya. The comedy-thriller film, He Went That Way, starring Jacob Elordi and Zachary Quinto, was also showcased, as was the documentary I Will Survive, which follows the life of disco diva Gloria Gaynor. Additionally, the horror thriller, Bad Things, and the Shorts: Bats**t Crazy were also celebrated throughout the festival.
Founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff in 2002, the Tribeca Festival is a diverse selection of film, episodic, talks, music, games, art, and immersive programming in New York City. The festival runs from June 7 to June 18, bringing art, entertainment, and thought-provoking content to audiences from around the world.
