To inform eligible borrowers about their newfound forgiveness, the Department of Education will begin sending out notifications on Friday. Furthermore, the department has assured borrowers that it will continue diligently identifying and informing those who meet the forgiveness criteria (reaching either 240 or 300 qualifying monthly payments, depending on their repayment plan and loan type) every two months until next year. This effort aims to ensure that all borrowers who are not yet eligible for forgiveness have their payment counts accurately updated.
