77-year-old Randy Meisner, a founding member of the Eagles, passes away

Randy Meisner, a founding member of the iconic band The Eagles, known for his contribution to their hit song “Take It to the Limit,” has passed away at the age of 77. The band shared the sad news on their website, revealing that Meisner died in Los Angeles due to complications from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Meisner played a vital role in the early success of the band with his astonishing vocal range, which can be heard in his signature ballad. Born on March 8, 1946, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Meisner joined forces with Glenn Frey, Don Henley, and Bernie Leadon to form The Eagles in 1971.

Throughout his time with The Eagles, Meisner worked on various albums, including their self-titled debut, “Desperado,” “On The Border,” “One of These Nights,” and “Hotel California.” In September 1977, Meisner left the band citing exhaustion, but he did reunite with them for a special performance when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. The band then replaced Meisner with Timothy B. Schmit, who had previously filled in for him in his former country-rock group, Poco.

Before his time with The Eagles, Meisner played bass and provided vocals for Rick Nelson’s Stone Canyon Band. He also released several solo albums, including “Randy Meisner” in 1978, “One More Song” in 1980, another self-titled album in 1982, and “Love Me or Leave Me Alone” in 2004. Despite the ups and downs that came with being part of The Eagles, Meisner expressed in 2011 that the arguments had come to an end for him.

Randy Meisner’s contributions to The Eagles and his remarkable talent will always be remembered in the world of music.
