57-year-old radio presenter Jamie Crick passes away

Jamie Crick, the renowned broadcaster of Jazz FM and Scala Radio, sadly passed away after a brief illness, according to his family.

A representative from Bauer Media UK expressed their condolences and remembered Crick as a true broadcaster who made significant contributions to their radio stations.

Crick was a beloved friend to his colleagues at Jazz FM, Scala Radio, and the wider Bauer Media teams. His absence will be deeply felt by all, including his friends and loyal listeners.

While coming to terms with Jamie’s unexpected passing, the radio stations will continue to honor his memory by playing the music he cherished every day. However, a heartfelt tribute will be paid in the near future to fill the void he left.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Jamie Crick joined Jazz FM in 2014 as a guest presenter and eventually became the host of the breakfast show. In 2016, he shifted to the afternoon slot.

Prior to his stint at Jazz FM, Crick spent almost two decades at Classic FM, working as a presenter and serving as the creative director of Gaydar Radio.

Simon Bates, a fellow radio presenter, expressed his sadness on social media, recalling how Crick provided support, kindness, and good humor when Bates first started at Classic FM.

Mark Carter, the deputy managing editor of BBC South and BBC South East, shared his memories of Crick joining the local teams and praised his talent as a presenter.

Aside from his work on radio, Crick co-founded Encore Radio, which celebrated musicals, and hosted a program on theatre on Bauer’s Scala Radio.
