$4 Movie Tickets Available for a Limited Time

Don’t miss out on the latest films like Barbie and Oppenheimer! This Sunday, you can catch up by purchasing a ticket for just $4 at movie theaters across the country. Theater owners made the exciting announcement on Monday, declaring that the second annual National Cinema Day will take place on August 27. This special event offers all movies, in any format and at any showtime, for a discounted price of $4 at participating theaters. Over 3,000 theaters, including major chains like AMC and Regal, are taking part in this nationwide event, according to the AP reports.

This marks the second year in a row that theaters are hosting this one-day event as summer comes to a close. The Cinema Foundation, a nonprofit affiliate of the National Association of Theater Owners, organized the inaugural National Cinema Day last year, and it was met with great success. In fact, an estimated 8.1 million people enjoyed movies for just $3 on September 3. The average movie ticket price in 2022 was $10.53, according to the group. This discount promotion turned what is usually a quiet period for theaters into the busiest day of the year, with cinemas packed with moviegoers and lots of popcorn being sold. This year, the event has been moved from Saturday to Sunday, and ticket prices have increased by $1.

Thanks to the enduring popularity of films like Barbie and Oppenheimer, the August box office has been thriving. According to data firm Comscore, ticket sales for the summer box office have reached $3.8 billion as of Sunday, surpassing 2022’s figures by 16.6% at the same point. While last year’s Cinema Day had a limited movie selection (with Top Gun: Maverick being the top choice over two months after its release), this year’s event will feature Barbie in its fifth week. Greta Gerwig’s highly acclaimed film has generated a remarkable $1.28 billion globally. Additionally, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has earned $717.8 million worldwide and will be playing during its second week. Other new releases available on National Cinema Day include Blue Beetle, Gran Turismo, Golda, Bottom, and Retribution. So, don’t miss your chance to see these fantastic films at a discounted price!
