The Palm Desert Campus of California State University San Bernardino is excited to announce the 10th annual Student Convocation, a special event that will officially kick off the new academic year. Taking place next week in Indian Wells, this ceremony will warmly welcome students and set the stage for a successful year ahead.
The convocation will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Indian Wells Theater, located at 37500 Cook St. For those who are unable to attend in person, the event will also be livestreamed at csusb.edu/pdc, ensuring that everyone can be a part of this memorable occasion.
The evening will commence with a warm welcome from Avi Rodriguez, the interim Assistant Dean of Student Engagement. This will be followed by a special land acknowledgement delivered by Diego Rendon, Vice President of the Associated Students Inc. at PDC.
Following the ceremony, a delightful dinner will be served to all attendees in the courtyard of the Palm Desert Health Sciences Building. This post-ceremony celebration will feature lawn games, a photo booth, and lively music courtesy of Paws Radio, the campus radio station.
Throughout the night, we will have the pleasure of listening to esteemed speakers including CSUSB President Tomas D. Morales, Academic Affairs Provost and Vice President Rafik Mohamed, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Daria Graham, and PDC Associate Vice President, administrator, and alumna Renata Flores. Their words of wisdom will inspire and motivate students as they embark on this new academic journey.
The convocation is an event that brings together students, faculty, staff, and esteemed members of the PDC campus community. It serves as a formal welcome into the 2023-24 academic year, creating a sense of camaraderie and marking the beginning of an exciting chapter in the lives of our students.
