$1.6M Worth of Distributor’s Booze Stolen by Crafty Thieves

Republic National Distributing Company is renowned as “one of the nation’s leading wholesale beverage alcohol distributors.” This enticing description may have attracted the attention of a group of burglars in Florida. An ongoing investigation is now underway after these thieves managed to steal over $1.6 million worth of alcohol from the distribution company. The stolen alcohol included popular brands such as Jose Cuervo and Malibu, among others. This audacious heist involved loading tractor trailers with the stolen beverages during the summer and making a swift getaway.

According to a recently unsealed search warrant for an Apple iPhone, the theft occurred at the RNDC facility in Hillsborough County, south of Tampa, on July 8, between 4:10am and 9:45am. The warrant reveals that the “unknown suspects” managed to load up three large trucks with 4,277 cases of alcohol and also removed digital recording devices used for surveillance by RNDC.

Thanks to footage obtained from nearby businesses, Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputies were able to identify the tractor trailers used in the alcohol heist. The warrant further states that authorities believe the iPhone contains crucial information, technical data, and evidence related to the burglary and grand theft. An RNDC representative informed CNN that they have confidence in law enforcement taking this matter seriously and diligently pursuing the perpetrators of this crime. CNN and the Messenger have both reached out to the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Office for additional comment, but no response has been received yet. (Read more theft stories.)
