The taste of the husband’s coffee seemed unusual, leading to a shocking discovery. Melody Felicano Johnson, a 39-year-old woman from Tucson, is facing charges of attempted murder. According to AZFamily, she allegedly tried to poison her husband by tampering with his coffee. Roby Johnson, an airman with the US Air Force stationed in Germany, reported noticing something off about his coffee back in March. He decided to set up a hidden camera, which revealed his wife adding something to the coffee pot daily. In order to handle the case in the US, Roby waited until their return in late June to report the incident to the police.
Roby Johnson further tested the coffee using pool strips and discovered a high chlorine content. Once they were back in the US, he installed surveillance cameras. These cameras captured Melody repeatedly pouring bleach from a container into the coffee maker. Police have retrieved a container suspected to contain bleach from under the bathroom sink, which was used by Melody. Roby told investigators that he believes she attempted to murder him in order to claim death benefits. Despite going through a divorce, the couple still resided together when the alleged poisoning took place. Melody Johnson is currently being held in the Pima County Jail, as reported by KVOA.
