Woman Accused of Killing Bride in DUI Crash Denied Bail

A woman has been denied bail after being accused of crashing into a newlywed couple’s golf cart while driving drunk, resulting in the death of the bride and serious injury to the groom. The incident occurred in Folly Beach, near Charleston, South Carolina. According to NBC News, 25-year-old Jamie Komoroski requested release on bail while awaiting trial for charges including reckless homicide and DUI, but the request was rejected by Circuit Court Judge Michael G. Nettles. Komoroski’s trial is scheduled to begin in March 2024, and if she remains in custody until then, a $150,000 bond with house arrest may be considered.

Komoroski, who refused a field sobriety test after the April 28 crash, had a blood alcohol level more than triple the legal limit, according to a South Carolina Law Enforcement Division toxicology report. Prosecutors claim she was traveling at more than double the speed limit and collided with the golf cart, injuring two other members of the wedding party. In court, Lisa Miller, mother of the 34-year-old bride Samantha Miller, tearfully stated, “She didn’t just kill my child, she killed all of us.” Komoroski’s lawyers argued for her release on bond, emphasizing that she is not a flight risk and has no prior criminal history.
